Thoughts on Advertising: A combination of the world's most cosmopolitan city; ever proliferating methods and numbers of potential broadcast platforms; the eyes of an increasingly sophisticated media audience; and the largest anticipated viewing audience in the history of the world means that the London Olympics in 2012 will provide advertisers with opportunities that they have never had before. Inevitably though, such association will not come cheap, and the Government has enacted legislation to secure the value of what will be a lucrative revenue stream. For those wanting to get a piece of the action, the planning has to start now. Our role, as advisers to those companies wanting to secure their slice of the pie, is to steer them through the intellectual property, regulatory and legislative pitfalls that can trap the unprepared. One thing however is certain, London will be an exciting place for the advertising industry in the run-up to the Games.
